This introduction included a number of exercises to engage students primarily coming from the hard sciences in performing qualitative ethnographic work that might benefit the design of their future laboratory spaces, Makerspace and classrooms. Students were asked to watch videos and develop field notes, discuss power dynamics and structures, and to identify differences between field notes and conjecture.
